  • Facing Fears with Crystals (and Love)

Facing Fears with Crystals (and Love)

When Kim from Re-Creative Resources, Inc. approached me to share something with her and her readers, I really wanted to write about the approaching spring season in the northern hemisphere (autumn in the southern). All I found on my mind was facing fears with crystals and love.

While spring does signify new beginnings and it’s the perfect time to reconnect with your goals, you can do this for any season, time or moon cycle! Reassessing your goals brings you clarity. You may even find that some don’t align with you anymore so let them go. Other goals you may find still align with your heart but you’re not making any progress.

Sometimes fear holds us back from achieving our goals or making progress. We feel unworthy, we struggle to make the time and then we end up feeling like a failure; but it is when we can stop to reassess and take note, we may find clarity and courage to move forward.

Facing fears with crystals and love

    Facing Fears Tips and Tricks

Here are some of my tips and tricks I use for fear and goals:

    • Write it Out: There’s power in the written word because then you know what you’re working toward. You’re not likely to forget and you can feel proud when you’ve accomplished it. It also helps to write out your fears because sometimes you can see that they’re not really as big as they are in your head.
    • Action Plans: Think about what you can do each day or week in order to make progress toward your goals.
    • Small Steps: This is part of action plans and it’s honestly been one of the most helpful things for me. When my action plans and steps are too big, I’ll procrastinate and find reasons to not do the things. When I break it up into small bite size nibbles, I can easily achieve them and begin to create trust in myself. This helps me step back into my power and remember that I CAN. Creating small steps also means that the fear doesn’t have a chance to grow in my mind because I’m simply taking action and keeping promises to myself.

    Facing Fears Crystal Support

Of course crystals are another great tool that can support you with your goals and facing fears around your goals or making progress! Here are my favorites:

    • Black Obsidian to cut through illusion, fear, uncertainty and distraction. It can help us to see what obstacles we are facing and then expose the tools within us. We are the greatest tool and we asset to ourselves but we often forget it. We let other things distract us and get in the way.
    • Heat Treated Citrine for visualization. If you cannot see and feel the end goal, try some HT Citrine to help you get there energetically. Natural Citrine can help you shift your mindset and help you to feel deserving of what you want. You will always deserve it and you never need a reason. Simply because you want it, is enough of a reason. Both stones are also great for reminding you of your worth too!
    • Sunstone for the motivation and the drive to take action.
    • Serpentine for the growth. If there are deep, painful changes you need to make, let Serpentine comfort you. It can remind you that it’s okay to shed layers that may not fit you anymore.
    • Moonstone for honesty and to breakthrough any illusions you may have. Pair it with Turquoise to help you see the bigger picture. Moonstone carries a maternal, feminine vibration for me and it also brings joy. It hugs your soul and reminds you that there’s no point to push through for no joy. Be joyful and be kind with yourself.

My wish for you is that you don’t let your fear hold you back and that you instead pause and see where you can move forward in love and power for yourself. May you find it in your heart to question and face the things that hold you back, find small steps to keep promises to yourself so that you can step into your power and forward however that may look for you. Use support and face those fears with crystals and love!

  • How to Choose your Stones Intuitively

How to Choose your Stones Intuitively

Have you ever wondered how to choose your stones intuitively? Or how to tap into your intuition and choose a crystal? Let me show you how to give yourself a simple crystal reading. Perfect for when you’re feeling overwhelmed or conflicted as to what stone you need right now.

    Using your Intuition

It’s very easy to tell someone to “just go with your intuition” but sometimes doubt creeps in. You feel like you know which one to choose, but you also feel like you’d benefit from another stone you saw or know of. It’s easy to fall into this trap because there is often so much we want to shift, heal and change; and there are so many crystals we want to use for all those.

I believe that one of the easiest ways to go with your intuition is to not overthink the process, however in the beginning and as a beginner, you may struggle to trust your intuition. This exercise can help you practice and/or lean more into your intuition.

An Exercise in How to Choose your Stones Intuitively

This simple exercise allows you to let the crystals and your intuition guide you to the crystal energy you may need right now.

Get your crystals together and have them out in front of you. If you have a big collection, it’s not necessary to have them all out. In that case, keep out the ones you want to choose from.

Take a few deep breaths. Really focus on your breathing; inhaling and exhaling until you feel centered and grounded.

Now you’re going to begin choosing your stone/s and there’s a two ways to go about this:

    Choosing a Crystal by Sight:

Open your eyes and go with the first crystal that catches your eye. Which crystal first caught your eye before you started thinking and the mind took over questioning? You want to go with the one that catches your eye immediately.

When you just choose in your stone by sight, there isn’t time for the ego to come in. There is less chance for your mind to begin doubting or questioning your choice. It’s a handy and incredibly simple method to have in your toolbox.

Choosing a Crystal by Touch (an alternative method):

Run your hands around them if they’re in a bowl or over them if they’re laid out. You are connecting to their energy through touch. If any feel different in any sort of way, that is a good choice. You want to take note of any sensations that you feel either physically in your hand (tingles, heat or cold) or within your body. When it comes to touch, there is still an element of doubt that can creep in but it’s another great method that you can experiment with.

Once you’ve chosen your stone/s, sit quietly with it for some time and see what comes up for you. You’re simply sitting with the crystal to listen to the crystal whispers. Then you also want to read about the stone and its properties. Don’t discredit what messages or nudges you receive from your own crystal and don’t ignore good crystal research either.

In the beginning and as a beginner, you are still learning to trust your intuition so keep practicing and leaning into your intuition.

When to Choose Your Crystals Intuitively

You can use this exercise when choosing a crystal for the day or if you are struggling to decide on which crystal would be best for a certain intention. For example, crystals for love include Rose Quartz, Rhodochrosite, Emerald, Morganite and Pink Tourmaline. When you have all those crystals in front of you, choosing the first one which catches your eye may be the perfect one to assist you with your current love goals.

The above exercise works just as well if you wanted to use your crystals like you do oracle cards!

You can follow the same above steps but before connecting with your stones, think of your question and then choose your stone. After you’ve done this, you’ll want to read up about the crystal and contemplate upon that. Also think about how that particular crystal could lend support to what you’re seeking guidance on. Alternatively, you can pick a stone of the day/week/month to carry with you for support through the day. Remember to read up about the stone for more clarity, then ponder upon that.

There is a lot of information about how to choose your stones intuitively as well as crystals for this and that. All this information can be overwhelming and doesn’t always help us decide which crystal would be best for us. There is something very approachable and easy about connecting and then choosing your stones. At the end of the day, you know yourself best and allowing your intuition to step upfront, you’re giving yourself the opportunity to trust yourself.

  • 4 Ways To Benefit From Crystal Therapy

Image credit: Sarah Brown on Unsplash

Since ancient times, several different therapies have used natural and organic things, like crystals used for crystal therapy and aromatherapy essential oil. Crystals and stones have an energetic effect that makes them valuable tools in crystal therapy. Let’s take a look at 4 Ways to benefit from Crystal Therapy.

The energetic influence of crystals is known as their “vibration.” We all vibrate at a particular frequency that can be affected positively or negatively by the things we encounter. The vibration of crystals and stones is said to strengthen, stabilize, energize or amplify an individual’s pulse. Many people wear jewelry made of gemstones or keep them in their homes for decorative purposes.

Crystal therapy typically uses crystals to treat the physical, emotional, and energetic causes of disease. This form of healing has been practiced since ancient times when stones got as part of religious rituals. Some crystal therapists believe that each stone has its unique energy that resonates with one or several chakras in the body. The vibration of crystals is supposed to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

If you are looking for a way to try it yourself, here are four ways to benefit from crystal therapy and how crystals can help.

    1. Get rid of bad vibes brought about by technology

Electronic gadgets like computers and cellphones give off electromagnetic waves that may disrupt the natural vibrations in our bodies. It has been proven that the waves emitted by electronic devices can cause cancer, headaches, and insomnia. Crystal therapy can help in reducing the “bad vibes” brought about by technology. One way this is accomplished is through using a crystal on your computer or phone to absorb the electromagnetic waves that are being emitted. Put a crystal on top of the device and leave it there for about an hour.

    2. Reduce stress

Studies have shown that carrying crystals around can reduce the effects of workplace stress. It is thought that these stones help to synchronize the energy in our bodies, thus relieving anxiety and restoring mental focus. Crystals are also said to promote a peaceful mind and a positive mood.

    3. Use them to support physical and emotional healing

Crystals are believed to be helpful in the treatment of various illnesses and conditions, including arthritis, anxiety attacks, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and insomnia. The vibration of several crystals such as hematite, selenite, sugilite, lapis lazuli, and shungite are said to help treat conditions such as arthritis, anemia, allergies, asthma, chronic pain, depression, and lethargy.

It’s important to note that crystals do not replace medical treatment, practices, or advice. They complement all forms of therapy and support the body on an energetic level. Always consult with your local healthcare professional, and don’t use crystals as a substitute.

    4. Wearing various types of crystals can help you get through times of stress better

The vibration of different kinds of gemstones can help with stress management and mood enhancement. The following are some stones known to help with stress management:

    –  Ajna (Third Eye) Chakra – Aventurine – helps the user to focus on essential tasks and achieve a clear vision of the future.

    – Throat ChakraCitrine – improves communication skills as well as verbal expression. It also increases self-confidence in one’s ability to speak.

    – Heart Chakra – Green Calcite – increases feelings of love, compassion, and empathy for others. It can also support healing the heart chakra after a negative or traumatic experience.

    – Solar Plexus Chakra – Carnelian – enhances one’s determination and desire to accomplish goals despite difficulties encountered along the way.

    – Root (Base) Chakra – Hematite – helps activate all other chakras and aid in balancing them.

Apart from that, crystals may help improve our spiritual well-being by helping us get in touch with the universe. Their vibration brings positive changes to the body and mind, giving you a more enlightened perspective on life.

Technology has given us the ability to connect with others like never before, but it can also take a toll on our mental and physical health. Crystal therapy is an easy way for you to get rid of bad vibes brought about by technology and reduce stress in your life without having any adverse side effects. If you want to find out more or have an interest in crystal therapy, contact me! I shall be happy to help guide you through the process so that all your worries melt away.

  • Grounding Crystals and How to Ground with Crystals

Grounding Crystals and How to Ground with Crystals

A lot of people talk about grounding and today’s post is dedicated to how to ground with crystals . Crystals can support you and help you to deeply connect with the earth in order to ground.

    Why Grounding?

On a spiritual journey, it’s easy to keep your head in the clouds. It’s a lot of fun up, but we often forget that we’re a physical human having a physical experience on this planet.

Grounding helps us to feel more balanced, present, focused and sometimes even more relaxed, depending on what’s going in your life, it’s not a magic pill. I personally find that when I’m more grounding, I have better focus through my day, instead of wandering off on a regular basis during tasks.

If you’re keen to read more about grounding, here’s an article that goes more in-depth: Grounding the Human Body: The Healing Benefits of Earthing

How to Ground with Crystals and Grounding Crystals

    Crystals for Grounding

My favorite stones for grounding is Black Tourmaline and Smokey Quartz (Smoky Quartz). These two work for me and I need to have them in nice, bigger, natural chunks.

If these didn’t appeal to you, here are more suggestions for grounding crystals:

    • Petrified Wood
    • Hematite
    • Magnetite
    • Picture or Red Jasper (I like Picture Jasper because it looks like sand so a good connection for earth)

You can also complement your grounding crystal with a Grounding or Root Chakra Mandala. Print it and sit upon it during your meditation.

How to Ground (A Short Exercise)

If you’re keen to do some grounding, here is a short exercise you can do with your chosen grounding crystal:

    • Put your feet on the ground or sit on the ground if you can.
    • Sit and listen to all the sounds around you outside. Simply observe. Your mind WILL wander, it’s normal and every time it does, bring your focus to your breath. Come back to deep inhales and slow exhales as often as you need to when your mind wanders.
    • Hold a grounding stone in your hands or place it in front of your legs if you’re sitting crossed legs. Now tap into the stone’s energy. Try and feel the deep, slow throbs of rock filled with dense, grounding energy. If you don’t feel anything, that’s fine.
    • Remember to focus on your breathing if you wander with the thought clouds.
    • Now imagine roots coming down from your Root Chakra (at the base of your spine), your feet or from your lower body if sitting cross legged. See those roots traveling deep into the earth, so deep that it connect to the center of the earth.
    • See your roots connecting to the center of the earth.
    • Feel that connection and feel your body ground. Often you’ll experience a sensation of your shoulders plugging down and you feel centered.
    • Repeat an affirmation: “I am here, I am rooted and connected to the Earth, I am grounded.”
    • Remember to breathe in deeply and exhale slowly.
    • You can sit here for as long as you’d like and when you’re ready, bring yourself back to the present.
    • Tap your feet onto the ground when you’re back.

Grounding Crystals can help you feel more centered and focused in your daily activities. They can serve as a touch stone to catch your breath and come back to the present whenever you need it. If you’re unsure of how to ground with crystals, save this exercise and return to it as often as you need.

  • Full Moon Forgiveness Ritual with Rose Quartz

Full Moon Forgiveness Ritual with Rose Quartz

For many we do some self-work on the full or new moon and I’m sharing my Full Moon Forgiveness Ritual today. On Full Moons, I like to do my forgiveness work and I always pair this with my Rose Quartz egg.

    Crystals for Forgiveness

Rose Quartz is a stone of forgiveness for me. There is just something about this egg which makes it easy to put someone in a bubble of love when doing forgiveness work.

Other stones which carry the energy of forgiveness and support you when doing that include:

    • Rhodochrosite
    • Chrysocolla
    • Tangerine Quartz (especially when it’s self-worth issues)
    • Prehnite
    • Green Apophyllite
    • Smokey Quartz and Peach Agate (a great combination when there are negative feelings involved)
Full Moon for Forgiveness Ritual using Rose Quartz

Full Moon Forgiveness Ritual with Rose Quartz

If you need some guidance for forgiveness work, here’s my full moon forgiveness ritual:

    • With a cleared Rose Quartz (or your chosen stone) sit down and carve some time to write down any past hurts that come to mind from the past month or any that sit on your heart. Really think about what you’ve been dwelling upon over the past 4 weeks.
    • TIP: Do this on a loose piece of paper and don’t overwhelm yourself with a burn book amount of people or situations. There are many full moons to come and forgiveness is a journey, like everything else in healing.
    • Meditate with your Rose Quartz in your hand and bring those situations or people up to your mind.
    • Now send them love by surrounding them in a pink bubble. Do this until you clearly see or feel that pink bubble of love around them.
    • TIP: If it’s yourself you need to forgive, see yourself sitting in front of a mirror.
    • Once you’ve wrapped them in love give thanks and say that you forgive them now.
    • Allow those people or situations to float or walk away.
    • Send yourself love.
    • Burn your list OR tear the paper up and flush it down the toilet. If you decide to work with fire, please ensure you do so in a SAFE MANNER. Burn your paper in an abalone shell or fireproof container. Dispose of the ash safely.

Some hurts may need a little more time and you may find that you’re unable to give love or forgiveness the first time BUT keep doing your forgiveness work for YOU to release yourself. You’re going to get there, so don’t feel the need to rush this.

This full moon for forgiveness ritual can be done whenever you like, it never needs to be done on a full moon! What matter is that you do the work, do it with love and yourself.

  • Choosing Crystals for Mandalas

    Choosing Crystals for Mandalas

I was recently asked how I go about choosing crystals for my mandalas and I decided to write about it.

Am I Choosing Crystals for Mandalas or do the Crystals Choose Themselves?

I’m never really sure if it’s me choosing the stones or if it’s the stones coming forward to me. Maybe it’s a bit of both. I kind of fell into using the crystals with mandalas as I had never planned on them turning into the second ingredient for my mandalas.

When I had started out drawing mandalas, I had already had the idea for digital coloring pages. I even shared this with my teacher at the time to pursue so I never thought I’d follow that breadcrumb.

How I draw them today, I’d never have seen that developing. This is probably a good thing because if you had told me then, I’d have not believed that crystals and mandalas could work so well together.

    Choosing Crystals for Mandalas

    How I Choose the Crystals

Before I draw, I meditate. This has always been step 1 for me and you can read more about how I draw Oracle Mandalas here.

I always ask what stone to draw when it comes to my mandalas, and if I don’t know what to stone to use, it will come to my mind during meditation.

Other times in the middle of doing something silly like showering or watching TV, then I will get a “download” and I just know what stone to use. This is how my first Crystal Mandala was born. I was watching The L Word and Malachite popped into my head with the idea of drawing it as a crystal mandala.

I have had instances where I just drew for no reason at all and once I’ve completed the sketch, I have known what stone is going to work well with the drawing. Here, a lot of my research and work with crystals come into play because they’re an aspect of my life interwoven into all that I do.

While I am completing a mandala, most of the time, I will know what stone to draw next. It will pop into my mind and then remain there. Weeks can go by and the stone sticks in my mind. It kind of serves as a reminder that this is one to go with, so I do. If I don’t know, I do the meditation as mentioned above.

    In Conclusion

Many know by now that crystals really can complement almost every avenue of your life and journey. Mandalas are no different.

There is no secret to working with crystals, except to use them with honest intentions. If you listen to them, they’ll share the “secrets” with you. That is what I do: listen, then draw. I’m simply sharing what they share with me.

A little more about Lori Latimer and her Podcast Grief with Grace:

Grief. It’s almost a taboo word in Western society. And yet, it’s a universal human experience and comes in many forms: the loss of a marriage or job, when a cherished friend (human or pet), an aunt or uncle, sibling, Mom or Dad cross the Veil. But if your child takes his or her last breath before you do, you’re thrown into a world that’s unimaginable and indescribable. If you’re a Mom that has a child in Spirit, this podcast is for you. I want to give a special nod to Lori for the opportunity to talk about crystals and using them for grief!

    Crystals and Grief

Grief is something we all experience at some point. Sometimes it’s more regularly than we’d like. I believe that no matter what grief you experience, you never really stop grieving. Your world changes when you lose someone you love and you don’t just forget.

Crystals can help you on the grieving journey and offer you support. They can assist you to find some acceptance that you’ve lost someone on this earthly plane, with forgiveness because things ended on poorly, or with remembering to nourish yourself through this process. Remember that they don’t take anything away like some sort of magic pill. They support and assist.

My favorite crystals for grief specifically include:

    • Rose Quartz
    • Smokey Quartz
    • Spirit Quartz
    • Golden Tiger Eye
    • Apache Tear

I wrote about these Crystals for Grief shortly after my partner lost someone dear to him. I wanted to write down my knowledge especially after losing my grandparents.

If you are struggling with forgiveness and releasing that during your healing, you can work with Peach/Pink Banded Agate and Smokey Quartz.

I hope you enjoyed the Crystals for Grief Podcast Interview and that you have a clearer idea on how to use your crystals for support on your journey!
