Different crystals and what you can use them for.

  • How to Choose your Stones Intuitively

How to Choose your Stones Intuitively

Have you ever wondered how to choose your stones intuitively? Or how to tap into your intuition and choose a crystal? Let me show you how to give yourself a simple crystal reading. Perfect for when you’re feeling overwhelmed or conflicted as to what stone you need right now.

    Using your Intuition

It’s very easy to tell someone to “just go with your intuition” but sometimes doubt creeps in. You feel like you know which one to choose, but you also feel like you’d benefit from another stone you saw or know of. It’s easy to fall into this trap because there is often so much we want to shift, heal and change; and there are so many crystals we want to use for all those.

I believe that one of the easiest ways to go with your intuition is to not overthink the process, however in the beginning and as a beginner, you may struggle to trust your intuition. This exercise can help you practice and/or lean more into your intuition.

An Exercise in How to Choose your Stones Intuitively

This simple exercise allows you to let the crystals and your intuition guide you to the crystal energy you may need right now.

Get your crystals together and have them out in front of you. If you have a big collection, it’s not necessary to have them all out. In that case, keep out the ones you want to choose from.

Take a few deep breaths. Really focus on your breathing; inhaling and exhaling until you feel centered and grounded.

Now you’re going to begin choosing your stone/s and there’s a two ways to go about this:

    Choosing a Crystal by Sight:

Open your eyes and go with the first crystal that catches your eye. Which crystal first caught your eye before you started thinking and the mind took over questioning? You want to go with the one that catches your eye immediately.

When you just choose in your stone by sight, there isn’t time for the ego to come in. There is less chance for your mind to begin doubting or questioning your choice. It’s a handy and incredibly simple method to have in your toolbox.

Choosing a Crystal by Touch (an alternative method):

Run your hands around them if they’re in a bowl or over them if they’re laid out. You are connecting to their energy through touch. If any feel different in any sort of way, that is a good choice. You want to take note of any sensations that you feel either physically in your hand (tingles, heat or cold) or within your body. When it comes to touch, there is still an element of doubt that can creep in but it’s another great method that you can experiment with.

Once you’ve chosen your stone/s, sit quietly with it for some time and see what comes up for you. You’re simply sitting with the crystal to listen to the crystal whispers. Then you also want to read about the stone and its properties. Don’t discredit what messages or nudges you receive from your own crystal and don’t ignore good crystal research either.

In the beginning and as a beginner, you are still learning to trust your intuition so keep practicing and leaning into your intuition.

When to Choose Your Crystals Intuitively

You can use this exercise when choosing a crystal for the day or if you are struggling to decide on which crystal would be best for a certain intention. For example, crystals for love include Rose Quartz, Rhodochrosite, Emerald, Morganite and Pink Tourmaline. When you have all those crystals in front of you, choosing the first one which catches your eye may be the perfect one to assist you with your current love goals.

The above exercise works just as well if you wanted to use your crystals like you do oracle cards!

You can follow the same above steps but before connecting with your stones, think of your question and then choose your stone. After you’ve done this, you’ll want to read up about the crystal and contemplate upon that. Also think about how that particular crystal could lend support to what you’re seeking guidance on. Alternatively, you can pick a stone of the day/week/month to carry with you for support through the day. Remember to read up about the stone for more clarity, then ponder upon that.

There is a lot of information about how to choose your stones intuitively as well as crystals for this and that. All this information can be overwhelming and doesn’t always help us decide which crystal would be best for us. There is something very approachable and easy about connecting and then choosing your stones. At the end of the day, you know yourself best and allowing your intuition to step upfront, you’re giving yourself the opportunity to trust yourself.

  • Apatite for Body Love

    Apatite for Body Love

Apatite is known for helping to suppress your appetite, but I enjoy working with Apatite for body love and appreciating the house your soul resides in.

Whether your body is big or small, tall or short, is beside the point today. Too often we nitpick at parts of us which aren’t deemed attractive by the media or people around us. We learn to hate those bits and spend little time appreciating our body. Your soul is in YOUR body. It’s our job to treat it better and look at it with kinder eyes instead of critical ones. Easier said than done, but I do believe that 5 minutes can make a difference in the long run.

    Blue Apatite for Body Love

Blue Apatite, most known for helping to encourage mindful eating or “suppress the appetite” as the saying goes, but I want to take you further with Apatite. Here’s a little exercise for you:

Look at yourself in the mirror with your Apatite in your hand, let it wash over your eyes and see yourself with your soul’s eyes, with love and appreciation. Stand there and look at yourself in the eyes, tell yourself that you appreciate yourself and your body.

Point out one area you adore and FEEL that appreciation.

Then look at another area which isn’t your favourite, and with that same feeling of appreciation you felt for the area you love, I want you to extend it as best as you can to this unfavourite area. Choose to send this area some love and appreciation.

    Why Appreciate your Body

I believe that any change, small and big, comes when we begin to appreciate ourselves first as we are right now. This is where we are and it may not be where we want to be with our bodies but it’s where we are. Acknowledging that helps us to be present so that we don’t bypass to jump to what seems better. It says:

“I see you now, I’m going to treat you better and appreciate you more.”

So whether you want to lose weight or not, be fitter or not, wish you were taller or shorter or whatever feature or not, I want you to love yourself as you are right now. Don’t focus solely on the things you hate about your body or wish were different, also see the parts you love because “what you focus on expands”. The more you dislike about you, the more you’ll find to dislike. So focus a little on the bits you DO like and love, even if it’s just your brows 😉

    More about Blue Apatite

Apatite actually comes in a range of colours but Blue Apatite is obviously blue. It has such a lovely aquatic, turquoise blue.

Here are some more interesting tidbits about the metaphysical properties of Blue Apatite:

    • Works well with the Throat Chakra making it great for anyone who relies on communication in their job (singers, actors, teachers, sales, writers, etc.)
    • It can bring better overall balance
    • Psychic Abilities are enhanced when working with Blue Apatite (may be great for communicating with guides).
    • It can deepen meditation.
    • Helps you to connect with your inner self.
    • Working with Apatite regularly may help those be more mindful of what they consume (food).

I’d love to hear how you work with Apatite. Share with me in the comments your experiences with this stone!

  • Grounding Crystals and How to Ground with Crystals

Grounding Crystals and How to Ground with Crystals

A lot of people talk about grounding and today’s post is dedicated to how to ground with crystals . Crystals can support you and help you to deeply connect with the earth in order to ground.

    Why Grounding?

On a spiritual journey, it’s easy to keep your head in the clouds. It’s a lot of fun up, but we often forget that we’re a physical human having a physical experience on this planet.

Grounding helps us to feel more balanced, present, focused and sometimes even more relaxed, depending on what’s going in your life, it’s not a magic pill. I personally find that when I’m more grounding, I have better focus through my day, instead of wandering off on a regular basis during tasks.

If you’re keen to read more about grounding, here’s an article that goes more in-depth: Grounding the Human Body: The Healing Benefits of Earthing

How to Ground with Crystals and Grounding Crystals

    Crystals for Grounding

My favorite stones for grounding is Black Tourmaline and Smokey Quartz (Smoky Quartz). These two work for me and I need to have them in nice, bigger, natural chunks.

If these didn’t appeal to you, here are more suggestions for grounding crystals:

    • Petrified Wood
    • Hematite
    • Magnetite
    • Picture or Red Jasper (I like Picture Jasper because it looks like sand so a good connection for earth)

You can also complement your grounding crystal with a Grounding or Root Chakra Mandala. Print it and sit upon it during your meditation.

How to Ground (A Short Exercise)

If you’re keen to do some grounding, here is a short exercise you can do with your chosen grounding crystal:

    • Put your feet on the ground or sit on the ground if you can.
    • Sit and listen to all the sounds around you outside. Simply observe. Your mind WILL wander, it’s normal and every time it does, bring your focus to your breath. Come back to deep inhales and slow exhales as often as you need to when your mind wanders.
    • Hold a grounding stone in your hands or place it in front of your legs if you’re sitting crossed legs. Now tap into the stone’s energy. Try and feel the deep, slow throbs of rock filled with dense, grounding energy. If you don’t feel anything, that’s fine.
    • Remember to focus on your breathing if you wander with the thought clouds.
    • Now imagine roots coming down from your Root Chakra (at the base of your spine), your feet or from your lower body if sitting cross legged. See those roots traveling deep into the earth, so deep that it connect to the center of the earth.
    • See your roots connecting to the center of the earth.
    • Feel that connection and feel your body ground. Often you’ll experience a sensation of your shoulders plugging down and you feel centered.
    • Repeat an affirmation: “I am here, I am rooted and connected to the Earth, I am grounded.”
    • Remember to breathe in deeply and exhale slowly.
    • You can sit here for as long as you’d like and when you’re ready, bring yourself back to the present.
    • Tap your feet onto the ground when you’re back.

Grounding Crystals can help you feel more centered and focused in your daily activities. They can serve as a touch stone to catch your breath and come back to the present whenever you need it. If you’re unsure of how to ground with crystals, save this exercise and return to it as often as you need.

  • Full Moon Forgiveness Ritual with Rose Quartz

Full Moon Forgiveness Ritual with Rose Quartz

For many we do some self-work on the full or new moon and I’m sharing my Full Moon Forgiveness Ritual today. On Full Moons, I like to do my forgiveness work and I always pair this with my Rose Quartz egg.

    Crystals for Forgiveness

Rose Quartz is a stone of forgiveness for me. There is just something about this egg which makes it easy to put someone in a bubble of love when doing forgiveness work.

Other stones which carry the energy of forgiveness and support you when doing that include:

    • Rhodochrosite
    • Chrysocolla
    • Tangerine Quartz (especially when it’s self-worth issues)
    • Prehnite
    • Green Apophyllite
    • Smokey Quartz and Peach Agate (a great combination when there are negative feelings involved)
Full Moon for Forgiveness Ritual using Rose Quartz

Full Moon Forgiveness Ritual with Rose Quartz

If you need some guidance for forgiveness work, here’s my full moon forgiveness ritual:

    • With a cleared Rose Quartz (or your chosen stone) sit down and carve some time to write down any past hurts that come to mind from the past month or any that sit on your heart. Really think about what you’ve been dwelling upon over the past 4 weeks.
    • TIP: Do this on a loose piece of paper and don’t overwhelm yourself with a burn book amount of people or situations. There are many full moons to come and forgiveness is a journey, like everything else in healing.
    • Meditate with your Rose Quartz in your hand and bring those situations or people up to your mind.
    • Now send them love by surrounding them in a pink bubble. Do this until you clearly see or feel that pink bubble of love around them.
    • TIP: If it’s yourself you need to forgive, see yourself sitting in front of a mirror.
    • Once you’ve wrapped them in love give thanks and say that you forgive them now.
    • Allow those people or situations to float or walk away.
    • Send yourself love.
    • Burn your list OR tear the paper up and flush it down the toilet. If you decide to work with fire, please ensure you do so in a SAFE MANNER. Burn your paper in an abalone shell or fireproof container. Dispose of the ash safely.

Some hurts may need a little more time and you may find that you’re unable to give love or forgiveness the first time BUT keep doing your forgiveness work for YOU to release yourself. You’re going to get there, so don’t feel the need to rush this.

This full moon for forgiveness ritual can be done whenever you like, it never needs to be done on a full moon! What matter is that you do the work, do it with love and yourself.

A little more about Lori Latimer and her Podcast Grief with Grace:

Grief. It’s almost a taboo word in Western society. And yet, it’s a universal human experience and comes in many forms: the loss of a marriage or job, when a cherished friend (human or pet), an aunt or uncle, sibling, Mom or Dad cross the Veil. But if your child takes his or her last breath before you do, you’re thrown into a world that’s unimaginable and indescribable. If you’re a Mom that has a child in Spirit, this podcast is for you. With Grace, hope, a little tough love, and even some wit and humor along the way, this podcast will honor where you are. Join me, Lori Latimer, Intuitive Soul Navigator, as my guests and I share insights, tools, and techniques to assist you on your grief journey. Every Tuesday, we’ll journey into all the dark places of grief, shining a light on them so you can integrate them rather than avoid them. Here’s where you can follow Lori online:

I want to give a special nod to Lori for the opportunity to talk about crystals and using them for grief!

    Crystals and Grief

Grief is something we all experience at some point. Sometimes it’s more regularly than we’d like. I believe that no matter what grief you experience, you never really stop grieving. Your world changes when you lose someone you love and you don’t just forget.

Crystals can help you on the grieving journey and offer you support. They can assist you to find some acceptance that you’ve lost someone on this earthly plane, with forgiveness because things ended on poorly, or with remembering to nourish yourself through this process. Remember that they don’t take anything away like some sort of magic pill. They support and assist.

My favorite crystals for grief specifically include:

    • Rose Quartz
    • Smokey Quartz
    • Spirit Quartz
    • Golden Tiger Eye
    • Apache Tear

I wrote about these Crystals for Grief shortly after my partner lost someone dear to him. I wanted to write down my knowledge especially after losing my grandparents.

If you are struggling with forgiveness and releasing that during your healing, you can work with Peach/Pink Banded Agate and Smokey Quartz.

I hope you enjoyed the Crystals for Grief Podcast Interview and that you have a clearer idea on how to use your crystals for support on your journey!

  • How to Use Clear Quartz – a Crystal Profile

How to Use Clear Quartz – a Crystal Profile

How to Use Clear Quartz – a crystal profile dedicated to one of my favourite crystals because it is a jack of all trades (and master of none).

    Why I love this Crystal

Through the chaotic times, or the times where I felt so utterly conflicted, I always come back to Clear Quartz. I cannot tell you how many of these times there were but this crystal has always been such a dependable companion (and BFF).

I liken this crystal to the number one comfort food you love so much which instantly puts a smile on your face. That is what this crystal is to me.

    Clear Quartz Properties

Clear Quartz looks like such a simple stone. Sometimes it’s clear, sometimes it’s more translucent and other times it’s more opaque and ghostlike.

With its simplistic appearance, it reminds you that magic can be found in the simplest of items, times and your simple self. You don’t need to be a miracle worker, guru or some magician. You’re magic just as you are.

Clear Quartz is the jack of all trades and so yes, it’s also a master of none. However, I do believe that your own piece can be a master of something in your own life. For instance, I have a piece of Clear Quartz which always reminds me of the light in me.

Some other cool things about this crystal which you may not know:

    • Known for it’s amplification properties so it works well with other crystals if you wanted to amp up their vibes. This works especially well for crystal grids.
    • It’s a good cleanser especially of distractions in meditation (or in general.)
    • Enhances psychic abilities.
    • Aids concentration.
    • Can boost and/or lift your mood.
    • Helps to relieve negativity too. This is not spoken about enough.
How to Use Clear Quartz - A Crystal Profile with properties and methods for use

    How to Use Clear Quartz

I suppose I’m a fan of Jack here because Clear Quartz is just whatever I need. It’s so versatile and here are some of my favorite ways to use this crystal:

    • To lift your spirits and boost your mood, meditate with a Clear Quartz point with the point pointing UPWARDS toward the sky. (This is an affiliate link so if you click and buy, I earn a little bit too.)
    • If you find yourself overthinking and worrying, hold a Clear Quartz point pointing downward and focus on your breath for a few moments. I find this helps calm your head a little bit. You can’t always control everything outside of yourself, but you can control your reaction.
    • When you’re feeling indecisive, meditate with this crystal and hold the intention to receive clarity. Don’t force it and have the faith that you’ll get clear.
    • When you’re feeling doubtful of yourself, carry a piece with you to always remind you of the light inside of yourself.

How to use Clear Quartz and any way you work with crystals should not be a complicated matter. It is a simple, user-friendly stone and however you choose to use it, simple or more intricate, it can work for you.

If you are a fan of this clear crystal, share in the comments below how you work with this cool crystal!

  • How Long do Crystals Take to Work?

How Long do Crystals Take to Work?

“How long do crystals take to work?” – A lot of people wonder this.

How Long to Crystals Take to Work?

Truthfully, I cannot give you an answer, even though I really want to, but we are all different. That’s why there is no accurate time-frame for this. Some people can use a crystal today and next week begin to see subtle changes. Other people can use a crystal and only see shifts months or years from now. We are all different and there is no timeline that anyone can give you as to when you’ll see changes on your healing journey.

From my experience, it’s often REALLY small steps and things which you NEVER even notice until you look back. It took me a good few years before I noticed those small things in my own life.

Healing is a JOURNEY and I shall keep shouting this until I’m dead because it’s true. It’s a journey. Healing will NEVER be an overnight cure or quick fix. When you go for surgery, are you recuperated entirely the next day? No. Healing our patterns, shadows, soul work and more is exactly the same. Treat it so.

Stop rushing yourself and your journey. Take your time and take time to being present on your journey.

It’s not always about the crystals you use, because technically you don’t need to use crystals. It’s also about being consistent and showing up for yourself. You’ve got to take of your time to progress on your journey in order to see shifts over time when you look back.

So how long do crystals take to work? It depends but don’t rush.
