Salt Lamp Sunday Week 1

Hey Everyone – Himalayan Salt Lamps Benefits Week 1 begins this Sunday! I decided to start this segment on Sundays to document my findings with my almost salt lamp. Come and read about what is warming in my warmer 😉

I suffer from allergies and hayfever, sometimes from seasonal asthma. It’s apparently something that happens to a lot of people here in the West Coast due to industries like Arcelor Mittal, Transnet and Tronox that pollute the air. I’m quite sensitive to strong smells and smoke as well. This is a bonus as majority of my friends are smokers.

I’ve been sick the past week and the past few days I had been walking around wheezing. By Saturday I had enough and went out to get an asthma pump. I used it that morning and felt some relief at being able to breathe a little better. My friend suggested I try a salt lamp in our room because she knew that it was beneficial to cleanse the air and for allergy or asthma suffers.

What is an Almost Salt Lamp:

An almost salt lamp is warming salt crystals in a warmer. I got the idea from The Real Co when I was researching if one could actually use salt in a warmer, seeing as I had an electrical one for Christmas.

Now this seemed like a good idea so I threw in Himalayan Salt (bought from Food Lover’s Market) into the warmer to do its magic. From there, I decided to start this “journal” because I wanted to document how salt in a warmer is effecting me.

Himalayan Salt Lamps Benefits:

Salt lamps are known to help with the following according to Dr Axe:

  • Air Purification.
  • Reduction in Electromagnetic Radiation and Airborne Infections.
  • Eases Asthma and Allergy Symptoms.
  • Mood Booster and Sleep Promoter.

Himalayan Salt Lamps Benefits Week 1 – My Findings:

Himalayan Salt Lamps Benefits Week 1

Himalayan Salt Lamps Benefits week 1 spans from 10-11 February 2018.

I cleaned Han Solo Buddha and added one shotglass amount of Himalayan Salt to the burner. I left it on until about midnight when I woke up from the light which was bothering me even with my eye mask on. It was on for about 4-6 hours on Saturday. Apart from waking up to switch the burner off, I slept straight through without having my chest bother me.

The next morning it was like my cough was gone which made NO sense to me because I had only used to the inhaler that morning and proceeded with my mint tea during the day. I still had a cough but no need TO cough. Could this even be possible?

Also, I wasn’t even wheezing and felt a little more like myself to be honest.

The whole of Sunday I didn’t touch any anti-histamine medication, cough syrup or my inhaler. It now looks like I bought that inhaler for a single use apparently.

I’ve gone from coughing very often throughout this past week to coughing twice for the whole day. I even tried to bring on a cough but wouldn’t stick really and seemed pointless.

I turned the lamp off for a few hours to cool down Sunday afternoon. I’ll move it to the floor during the evening so that I can possibly avoid the light bothering me while sleeping. For the most part, I’m going to keep it burning.

That’s it for Himalayan salt lamps benefits week 1! I’ll update you next week Sunday with possibly some more findings on my almost salt lamp! I’m quite excited to see where this goes.

Do you have a Himalayan Salt Lamp and do you believe in the benefits of Himalayan Salt Lamps?
